Making the c900 transmission last

I'm wondering if the way you drive your c900 has a lot more to do with transmission life than how much power the engine has been modified to produce. Does anyone agree with that?
If you know that the transmission can't handle a lot of high revs, downshifting, and race-car type driving, why won't the transmission last for a long time if you simply avoid these activities?
I'm guessing that a transmission in a modified c900 that makes lots of power can last for a long time providing one babys the transmission, pauses inbetween shifts, and doesn't stay in the lower gears longer than necessary. That doesn't mean that you can't drive fast.
Some types of cars can take the abuse, but the c900 can't. Has anybody been kind to their tranny only to have it blow up anyway???
Just wondering....
