??

I think using a 87 2.0L with a 2.3L head may be the way to go for you or buying a early 90s 9000? The stock 1991 was a rocket. 6.4s 0-60 and 15.8QM

Speak with Dave at Lesco or Steve from Washington theyre very honest and a wealth of real world knowledge.

I think my 87 is faster than this by a good margin?

I bet someone would know the ultimate year to build? The 2.3L motors have balance shafts but they can be removed if you want better performance. I've heard building a 2.0L may be better because it spins up faster but I'm not sure and would enjoy seeing follow ups displacement VS. spin in a Turbo, DOSE SIZE really matter :-))? I think adding later brakes to your 1987 like 90 or 91s are a simple swap rotors, calipers and dust shields. I may do this to my car this Winter, you can do quite a bit using junk yard parts then add a few things. Reliability is a factor as well. My 87 has 180,000 miles and runs like new. The 87s are a few hundred pounds lighter than other 9000s I've driven they seem more quick and agile. I've driven a built 95 Aero it was fast but felt very heavy and not as nimble to me. I have a Miata and enjoy quick over Big but that's my preference. I may be mistaken but selling the 1987 building a 1990 or 1991 may be the hot ticket? I have a 87 9000 T with a 2.3L head conversion and it runs well. You need to stiffen the car with F/R bracing then work the brakes and suspension. The later cars may be more ridged? Do your research now this may save you hundreds of hours later?

Good luck.

Dave
