What a thrill taking my 225 HP 95 9000 CS out with an AERO Computer, Boost Control Valve and a Mitsubishi TD04 Turbocharger I took apart and rebuilt with my own hands.
I was just thinking that today at lunchtime as i wheeled out of the parking lot and eased on to a lonely open stretch of road and slowly opened the throttle.
I eyed the Boost Gauge admiringly, as it smoothly ascended from 0 to 2 to 5 then to 8 and to 10 then 12 then to 15 psi...
I thought to myself of all those intricate parts in the Mitsubishi TD04 I had removed and replaced carefully and how I even had the Turbine wheel carefully balanced and how I had painstakingly patiently reassembled the unit..
The car zoomed effortlessly along...70, then 80, then 85, then 90
I was so proud how I had carefully replaced the nut at the end of the turbine shaft 8 or 9 times until I had the alignment marks perfectly matched...
I was still zooming..100, 105..110 115
I thought of that wheel zipping around in its casing at 6000 rpm and I was so proud I had carefully torqued the end nut--WAIT A MINUTE--I forgot to torque it down #$%&(()! I only hand tightened it!!!
Still zooming 115 , 120 then suddenly a horrifying shrieking of metal as my turbine blade came loose and was sucked into the intake manifold..
Oh well, better luck next time. At least I didn't get the oil and coolant lines reversed..
