I finished my first track event at putnam park & well, it's awesome!!!!!!

For any of you who have never done this, I HIGHLY recomend it! I learned so much & pushed my car much farther then I ever have & I know I still was way under it's abilities as well as mine :o)

My only car problems were overheating :o( After a few good laps the temp guage would almost be at the top of the scale, a few mm's short :o( But in the time before the motor was so hot, my slightly modded 88 SPG (15 ish PSI max) was very comparavle in acceleration to a VR6 coraddo, VR6 Passat, Civic Si & a few others.

I was anxious to see how the 225-35-18's performed along with the Koni/Intrax springs & they performed extremely well. ZERO rubbing on the track & I did not install the SAS rear air bags yet either! My 88 SPG also rides much smoother then my 87 SPG does & that has OEM springs, KYB shocks & 15 in rims.

My instructor was a good friend of my dads & helped me out drastically. Especially when he took me for a ride in his 944 Turbo S which is strictly a race car (IE lots of mods)! Lots of boost & Hooser racing tires let us do some awesom times. I was scared shitless by how fast he was taking us around the coarse :o) DAM FUN!!!!!!

So today he let me drive his car instead of mine during the 1st session & it was amazing. I turned 1 min 37 lap times in his car vs his 1 min 23 sec best. I was being held up a tad because this thing was soooooo much faster then anything else in the class & could of probably taken a few secs off easily, but still 10 sec away from his times (it's my 1st event).

So I then went into my car & me seeing what his car could do probably allowed me to drop 10+ sec on my laps. I couldn't push the car much in the straightaways due to the overheating problem but was able to simply practice the turns. For being street tires (Yokohama Parada's) & the Koni's on the factory setting, this car handles pretty dam well :o) I was staying even with a new style RX7 as well as the VW's & several others, it's just I had to let them by in the straights :o(

If anyone is within a few hrs of indianapolis, I highly suggest coming to an event at putnam park. I am planning on being there in October when the local store offers their next class & it would be awesome if I wasn't the only saab on the track :o) There were 2 others there but not to race.
