Then you don't know how to drive your saab . In the past with my moded 88 900 turbo I had many close runs with 911 turbo and all kinds of other cars. I was never left in the dust and actually in most cases they gave up and backed down after a few miles of top speed. Yesterday I was driving my STOCK 2002 viggen, Nate was driving his stock 2001 Viggen Convertible and Corey was in 1999 9-5 lbt with Aero computer and plugs. We also had a few people running with us a new friend Greg Known As fast Lane in a 2005 996 turbo s cab with FVD chip and Speed Tech exhaust. Also 2 944 Porsches. A Ferrari Modena.
We had about a one hour 12 min run from Hackensack NJ to Somewhere in PA.
From all I read and heard from SAAB Guys about their Viggens and their war stories. I didn’t except what happened but I knew we were going to have fun regardless. bottom line is SAAB Now has some major respect from a fellow Hardcore Porsche man. Greg did hit 183 and he has it on Video. But for the whole one hour plus run Myself Nate and Corey were always up there. When we stopped Greg was like. Wow what kind of work you guys did to these cars. and Nate was like nothing man It's all stock. Greg said Wow. I didn't know. I didn't know. Now when the rest of the guys arrived they jumped out of their cars and they were saying. Wow those Saab are crazy fast... All I can say is that Greg he is somehow known in the Porsche community and who happen to be a great driver was very impressed with how the Viggens Ran. We pretty much were doing 150+ at all times. Greg told Nate that he really tried very hard to loose him or shake him of his tail but he couldn't. Now the one part that makes no sense is that when Greg hit 183 I was a about 200feet behind him and catching up. I don't get it but that is what happened. there was many times when I cruised behin Greg and just waited for him to hit it and leave me. and every time he would hit it and not leave me. yes there was a part of a secound delay on my part yet i caugt up pretty easily. irt was just a matter of putting the pedal to the floor. I never even shifted down except for one time and i did it to make up for a part of the initial delay.
Now here is the M3 part. On the way back to NY Three M3 were nicely easily killed for about a 6 mile run. 2 of them didn’t last long at all. except for one that seemed Moded and the guy was not giving up that easy. So we took him one at a time and after a few mins he knew that he had nothing on us. I mean nothing. and he really tried so hard to not make us pass him. Nate said that when he passed him he saw the look on the guys face and it was priceless. He was in disbelieving.
SO to all of you Saab Fans out here. Please enough with your Saab story. Please learn how to drive your cars and get the most out of them before you go thinking that they are not faster than others. Even some of u with Moded cars of 300+hp and 400+ hp still think that a 911t or an M3 is a threat.. Don't. Just go for it and you will see.
