A few reasons... I've never had anything approaching exceptional results with Redline products, and I'm just not willing to pay premium prices for average results. M1 10w40 is $10/qt locally - Motul 6100 ends up being $7/qt and 8100 $10/qt, Redline is $12/qt locally. It's not worth extra money to get the same results. Redline is also not API certified. I know their reasons, they make great sense, but it's just too much black box mumbo jumbo for me. Finally, M1 and Motul both carry some pretty high-end manufacturer certifications - Motul 8100 carries both VAG and Mercedes highest certifications. Redline carries none.
Redline may make a good product, but it's just not demonstrably better than other choices, and costs more. Thus, not an option for me.
That does bring up the possibility of Royal Purple's API oil. It's slightly less than M1's, and available in 5 gallon mini kegs. No idea how you pour oil out of a 5g bucket, but price-wise it's hard to beat. :)
