Hit an indicated 140mph this weekend. I still had power left but no more room. I'm pretty sure that I could have seen 150mph had there been space.
That was scary fast. The car itself felt good but still frighteningly fast. The conditions were as safe as can be - dry roads, straight, good visibility, no traffic other than a Taurus SHO with me... It was a turn that caused me to slow. I was running under the protection of a V1. The prior record was an indicated 130 mph in my 98 328i.
By the way, I had 3 passengers totalling about 900 lbs and another 100 lbs of luggage in the trunk. That's a lot of weight slowing me down. Anyway, it was stupid to have had other people in the car. Honestly, I had nightmares last night about killing 3 friends. Next time I do it - it will be alone (and yes, should be on the track).
I was surprised how fast the SHO was. We did two runs. 1 where I took off, the SHO trailing. I didn't convincingly lose the SHO. On the 2nd run, he took the lead and I wasn't making much headway to catching him. I'm not sure what year it was however it was the the body style that ran until 95. Both runs started with us about 75-80 mph.
I'm not sure what sort of impact I can attribute to the extra 800 lbs I was carrying. The SHO also could have been modified. I don't think either of us were expecting the other to 'play' - I got one big thumbs up from the SHO when all was said and done.
Oh yeah, I'm totally stock and have 9500 miles on my 9-5.
