Unfortunately for you, I just sold a set of SE springs from my '97 convertible for a whopping $50. AFAIK, only the springs, wheels and tires are different. The best advice has already been given: go to your dealer's parts counter at a quiet time, and spend some time with the parts guy reviewing what is different. I did this with an inquiry on Viggen brakes, and learned a lot.
IMO, a wheel/tire upgrade would be the first step. I don't think the difference between the base suspension and the SE is worth bothering with. If anything, you should look at Eibach or B&G, Abbott's are quite stiff, probably more so than you're looking for. With the Eibach's or B&G's, you'll get some lowering, and some stiffening. With the SE's you won't get any lowering, and only a bit of stiffening. You may also be able to get some custom wound springs locally.
