If you want to see the performance advantage of "back pressure" stick a potato in your exhaust pipe. To further explain what Cutic is saying, with the proper sized exhaust, velocity is maintained, and this keeps a continuous movement going that helps to pull more charge in during overlap. Its equally important in charged motors to get the chamber emptied quickly in order to fill it back up. Most turbo cars have fairly mild cams, as the turbo can basically doubles the displacement (at 1bar) there is no need to sacrifice drivability with huge overlaps.
