Batch fire systems have an injector pulse for each revolution of the crankshaft, each pulse injects half of the fuel required. Four-stroke engines have to go through two crankshaft revolutions to complete the cycle. Half of the cylinders will have an intake stroke for each revolution of the crank, I believe this is the reason for two injector pulses for each complete cycle (two crankshaft revolutions).
All of the batch fire systems that I have seen on engines with more than 4 cylinders, use two sets of batch fired injectors. One set feeds half of the firing order, the other feeds the rest. I don't know if each set fires at different times, such as 180 out from each other, or if it lets half the cylinders work if one set of injectors fail to function, but I really feel it is just to ease the load of the injector drivers and they all fire at the same time.
I only have theories concerning sequential systems, because I've never had the opportunity to mess with one. My theory on a true sequential system, is that each injector will fire only once for every two revolutions of the crankshaft. The injector pulse is timed to correspond to it's respective cylinder and it will inject all the fuel necessary each time it is fired.
