Hi,
First of all, we need to set some fundamentals straight:
1) The Viggen has the same engine management system as the 9-5 Aero, i.e the Trionic 7. Your engine, being a '00, is essentially the exact same engine as the 9-5 Aero.
2) The T7, contrary to the T5, does not have a preset boost curve in it's SW that it works to achieve. A T7 unit has a pre-programmed torque curve that it wants to achieve.
3) The "boost gauge" in a T7 does NOT show the "boost level! The system does not use a conventional "manometer" to measure intake pressure, but rather an electrical instrument that measures a signal proportional to the amount of air in the cylinder per combustion.
4) Thus, the "boost gauge" on a T7 car will show different "values" depending on a) fuel type, b) altitude, c) ambient temperature, d) humidity, e) air pressure etc etc.
5) A T7 car will not seem as "spirited" on a cold, humid autumn morning as a T5 car, neither will it seem as "dishearted" a warm, dry day at high altitude...
6) The only way to see if your car is performing the way it should is for the dealer to use his TECH2 unit to check for error codes. A faulty BPC for example will show on the TECH2. Also, the TECH2 can be used to measure the car's hp output!!!
Another good way to test performance yourself would be to do a series of measurements in mph intervals where you have factory numbers, such as 50-80 mph or something. Do at least five measurements on a flat straight, in both directions, and take the average number. If it's way off factory performance numbers, that's a hint that something's wrong...
By the way, my 97 9000 Aero, boosting almost 21 PSI max, has the boost gauge at 15.00 (damn close to the "full tank" indicator...).
Good luck with your Viggen!
