On most other cars, there is also the limits on the fuel rails ability to flow, and with the older batch fired systems "fuel rail knock" has to be a factor. A simple solution is to feed fuel from both ends.
For street use, with only periodic WOT the 5th inj has gotta be a great way to go. Maintain good stoic for cruzing, and go to12:1 when you slam it. You would retain good drivability, and a simple switch that reads off the TPS should work, once you have your flow level down. Another benefit if the 5th was before the TB would be the cooling effect of the fuel on the manifold interior walls, much like a carb.
