The size of the two tubes ARE different on the stock Bosch valve. In addition the size of the barb on the Forge valve is much larger than the stock valve. Thus even if one attempts to fit the smaller tube to the intercooler / throttle body duct the barb size prevents fitment. This is due to the fact that the duct’s fitting is not a rubber hose (it’s just a thin plastic tube welded to the duct.)
To preserve Saab's method of keeping the valve closed under boost the Forge valve should also be fitted in the "reverse" orientation, just like the stock valve. Or at least that is the conclusion I came to.
Given the plumbing for the Viggen’s engine the 006 valve’s larger size is prohibitive unless new duct work is fabricated (read add hoses, cut the metal duct, etc). Thus the best alternative that I am aware of is the 007P valve. But even with the 007P valve the valve can only be fitted in the reverse orientation due to the length of the metal return pipe.
I returned a 007P valve to the supplier just before the holidays and have not had to time to work with the supplier to get a custom valve made up for the Viggen. They were very quick to offer to work this issue with the manufacture.
What is needed is a dead Saab bypass valve to send to Stratmosphere. Does anyone have a dead valve they can give up? Otherwise someone needs to make some careful measurements.
