Users of high flow exhaust (9000 especially) - is popping normal?

As you know, I had the Abbott turbo back exhaust system put on last weekend, as well as a high flow cat. Overall, I love the sound of it, deeper and more throaty than the stock exhaust, more turbo whistle, just overall more sporty.
However, I'm getting more or less continous loud popping under decceleration at anything over 3000 or so RPMs. The higher the RPMs, the louder and more frequent the popping, over 4000 it's close to a backfire intensity.
I've heard this can be quite normal for high flow systems, have any of you 9000 owners experienced it? A small burble is cool, and I get that as well, at lower RPMs, but this system sounds like there actually is something wrong with it. I was back at the shop tonight, and there are no leaks in the system, and the popping is definitely coming out the tailpipe. The Abbott system still has a center resonator, it's not a straight pipe, and it's quiet at idle still, so it would otherwise seem to have good silencing capabilities..
Thoughts?
