sounds like clutch master. i wound up replacing both master and slave on my sonett last year. i am willing to bet that if you take the rod and rubber boot off the master cyl behind the clutch pedal, you will see that the piston is buried in the cyl and most likely seized in there.
i ordered my parts off ebay. works like a dream now.
