In a 99/C900 the plastic line runs under the carpet along the (US) drivers's side of the interior floor. I've never seen one that was worn in a dangerous way. In the 95/96/97 the original steel line runs in one of the strengthening troughs in the flat floor and is covered with the masonite panels under the carpets, so how is the plastic replacement supposed to get damaged? In the 99/C900 the line is running at approximately 50-75 psi under different conditions from the pump, which is mounted in the fuel tank. In the 95/96/97 the fuel in the line on the interior floor is not under pressure, rather it is under suction by the pump mounted on the side of the engine.
I don't think the problem would be from using the plastic line, but rather from finding the correct fitting to connect it to the tank. The routing in the engine compartment might be tricky, as the existing line runs fairly close to the left side header pipe. You would want to either re-route it or somehow protect it from the exhaust's heat.
