My Sonett had sat for 10 years. The old boy that sold it to me took care of the car very well except! gas in the tank:( The filter wasn't so much the problem as the fuel line.Take off the fuel line before it goes into the fuel pump, if the gas doesn't run out fast could be a clogged fuel line. If that could your problem, do not take out the tank. Way too much work, 1. put a 1\8 tank of gas in the car 2 put about a tank fulls worth of gas stablizer/varnish remover in. 3. take off the fuel line before the pump. 4. spray some carb. cleaner into the line, holding it up so it won't run out, attach an air hose to it by using the clamp on the hose and blow it back into the tank. 5. keep doing this until the line is clear. 6 then let the gas from the tank run out through the fuel line and discard (works fine in the lawn mower, ect...)
It's worth a shot before you try and take out the tank
