Yep, it's not exactly a "direct bolt-on replacement". But nothing too serious. The throttle linkage will need to be modified slightly, the air cleaner 'plumbing' has to be changed, the PCV valve moves, and the coolant hoses above the thermostat have to be rotated or changed. Also the Weber is a manual choke, so the water choke plumbing is no longer needed. There are probably a few other minor details I've left out.
So.....I DEFINITELY recommend buying Jack Ashcrafts book, "Weber 34ICH Installation Book"!!! It gives explicit instructions for installing the Weber 34ICH on the V4, as well as tuning and jetting info. It's only $15. How can you go wrong? Jack has restored many Sonetts to better than their original spendor, and is, in my mind, the 'Grandfather of Sonetts'. For more books and parts info check out:

With what he offers you can restore your daily driver, or build a Sonett hotrod!! He's in the process of moving to a new shop, so things may be a bit hectic. If he doesn't answer the phone or email right away, keep trying...He's an invaluable source of information if you can talk to him...
