As Chris pointed out, one important difference is the direction the throttle linkage turns. I've got a web page with a couple of pictures that show the difference (http://homepage.mac.com/jlw/solex/) this page shows going FROM a 34ICH TO a 2-bbl Solex, but should still give you the idea.
The piece that needs to be re-oriented is the bellcrank on the throttle rod -- I haven't tried this myself, but I've been told that it's brazed onto the rod and that if you heat up the brazed joint with a propane torch, you can soften it enough to turn the crank. Of course, it might be easier just to get a throttle rod from one of the later FoMoCo cars from a salvage vendor such as Vintage Saab Life Support (see classifieds.) The FoMoCo linkage operates in the same direction as the 34ICH.
There are various other quirky details, too, so I also would agree that it would be a good investment either to buy Jack A.'s book or to buy your carb from a vintage Saab 'marque specialist' who can help you with info about jetting etc.
