I'm not sure what SAAB means by "Maximum spring expansion", unless they mean that as the coil compresses, the coil diameter expands/changes. The '68 96 springs on my shelf downstairs are nominally 4-1/4" in diameter uncompressed and it stands to reason that as you're compressing the length of the spring, the metal can't compress so has the coil diameter expands.
I don't have the 95/96 book handy to check for comparisons but here are the stock Sonett specs:
Front:
Max. expansion: 5-1/2" (139mm)
Length: 13.4" (339mm)
Number of coils: 8-1/2
Wire diameter: 0.47" (12mm)
Rear:
Max. expansion: 5.9" (150mm)
Length: 12.5" (318mm)
Number of coils: 7-1/2
Wire diameter: 0.4" (10.0mm)
