Putter @ low rpm's ??????????? Drove it home !!!!!! Posted by John [Email] (#752) [Profile/Gallery] (more from John) on Sat, 31 Aug 2002 12:37:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
68' Sonett V4
(Warner Robins, Georgia)
So I made it home with no problems. Even decided to take it down the interstate which was about 35 miles. I was very impressed with my $1000 investment.
Cruised at 63mph (3000 rpm's) sound right? Ran Great!!! Smooth as can be not even a squeek. Rpm's held along with the speed. Anyway as I got off the interstate and was changing gears it started to sputter. Maybe from the carb choke??? Had to give it a little gas to keep the engine running. Are they made to run at a higher rpm?
Question, since I'm now a proud and new first time owner of 68' Sonett what about the fuel? The original owner told me to put lead into the gas. I read on an old archive from this page that you don't have to add the lead, because the heads have a build up of lead in them...Is this right?
Can you find air filter replacements in local areas or even better a high performance filter like a K&N ???
I'm starting what little bit of restoration the car needs with the engine any tips? High Performance Coil? any thing else.
Any tips would be appreciated since I'm an official rookie
Thanks all
John
p.s. Chris Floyd thanks for all the great Ideas and Help.....
