Hello,
It looks to me like Paul has thought of yet another way to mount the shoulder belts that I hadn't considered. To (try and) be clear, the first ASCII drawing below describes *my* install of the shoulder harness.
I installed a "harness bar" to go with the roll bar I made. The harness bar is what I ran my belts around.

Did I get it right?
*I have to caution you though, the manufacturer's recomendation for installing the harness says that the mounting point for the shoulder belt should be as close to level with the driver's shoulders as possible.
There's at least two reasons for this. One, it gives the belts the best direct angle for keeping the driver in place. Two, it makes the belt length shorter, which is always good. That way you have less slack to try and tighten out of them.
I'd like to show you a picture of my install but can't right now... not at least until after this weekend. I'll try and snap a shot then.
But what I can do is show you a picture of a roll-bar/harness installation that I did (with a friend) on another friend's Miata. We built the roll bar from scratch.
As you can see in the picture below, to go with the roll-bar we made a harness bar for the belts to wrap around. If you look at the racing seats we installed you see they have holes for the belts to pass through.
We *wanted* to get the bar down even with the holes but because of a couple of chassis features, simply couldn't go any lower than we did. In the end it works out OK and there isn't much stress on the belts from having a very gradual bend in them when they go through those holes.
Q's?
