Racing Weber Problem Posted by Patquin [Email] (#52) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Patquin) on Sat, 20 Jan 2007 09:53:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I was driving my 69 Sonett V4 from DC up to Boston last weekend, and on the Jersey Turnpike (naturally the worst place for this to happen) discovered that the engine wouldn't fall back to normal idle--it wanted to rev at 4,000 rpm. I got home by starving it with the manual choke when I needed to get the idle down. I'm running a Weber 32/36--same linkages as 36/36. It seems there's a cam shaped like a whasher with variable outer diameter on the fast idle, on the manual choke shaft, that sets fast idle when the choke is inititally pulled out. I'm guessing it should pull back to the lower diameter part when I blip the accelerator. However, in my case it is floating and decides reandomly its rotational position. Any thoughts on the problem, or how to fix it?
