Thanks so much for a great reply, Spiv. I was praying someone out there knew about this.
My experience is that nothing I could do with the throttle would pull the idle down, except when I took a flat-head screwdriver and rotated the cam around to the low side to where the whole linkage fell back to the point where the low-idle tang bumped up to the adjustment screw. When I drove the car after that, it once again hung at the high idle. Ultimately, I solved it temporarily by unscrewing the high idle adjustment screw almost out of the hole.
I love that feature of the Webers--particularly when trying to drive first thing on a cold day--and when they work right!
