My oil pump drive shaft and impeller both have some wear, so while I've got the motor out I will replace the complete unit. I'm just wondering if I should replace with a standard unit or a higher flow one. I am putting in 9.1:1 pistons, and slightly higher performance cam, otherwise motor will be mostly stock...for now. Exhaust will be MSS unit also. Other than the slightly higher cost of a high flow unit (only about $20), is there any drawback of installing such a pump? Chances of this car becoming a serious racer are slim, but maybe once or twice a year it might show up at a local SCCA or autocross event.
