I do not see how anyone can say that a Saab is priced ANYWHERE near any BMW. I cross-shpped the '06 325xI the same time I found my '06 Aero SC. I can truly say I liked the Beemer. BUT, this car only had the cold-weather package and was well over $36k. No leather seats, upgraded wheels / tires, back-up sensors, xenon headlights, etc that you get with the Aero. The Saab stickered around $36.5k. Ok, apples-to-apples Saab wins on price. Add to that I got incentives galore taking the purchased price down to around $36k, and there was no contest.
It may not be quite the same cache as BMW, but I have been thrilled with this car, and not once have I regretted not getting the 325. In fact, my wife's boss got a 325 shortly after I purchased. She sometimes has to travel with him for business, and they took his 325. Note she was actually pushing for the BMW when I was trying to decide. She came back and said "I'm really glad you didn't go for the BMW - this thing is way quicker and more comfortable!"
Y'know, everyone has different priorities and standards, which is why there are more than one car model manufactured. I also would like GM to allow Saab to compete and succeed. But I intend to buy Saab's for a good long time!
