I'll have to see the final result to see if all the paint matches, they are pretty good about paint matching nowadays though, so hopefully all will be good, if not, I would certainly push for full paint.

The fact that they tried to do it without telling me is really the what has really pissed me off. The message they left on my phone was that it would take a bit longer as they were waiting for parts, when actually the car was at the paint shop. This from a SAAB dealer.

Going in after that and just saying 'thanks for fixing the damage, here's the few hundred for the other service' leaves me feeling like a chump. I mean, shit happens, it is only a car, not my kids or something, but they should at least have been honest about what was going on.

For the record, I'm not looking to blackmail anyone, or get something for nothing, but throwing me a bone would definitely leave me feeling better about this. Question is, what is that bone?

People don't care about original paint? I do, actually. Original paint generally shows the car has not been in an accident and therefore isn't concealing potential faults. I spoke with an aquaintance who works at a Honda dealership. He told me that when I go to trade the car in, revealing bodywork has been done would automatically reduce the car from "good" to "average" in determining value. Is this not true? I don't know, I'm asking. This is why I'm wondering if I deserve some sort of compensation. If this is not true, and I have lost no resale, then fine, I'll just go to a different dealer in the future, if I have lost resale, then I think I should be compensated.

Thoughts?

I will tell you though, that my car had no nicks, dents or scratches, yes it can happen. OK, that's a lie. I touched up 3 ~1mm stone chips on the front of the hood over it's life. This is the tropics, no rust, very regular detailing. The car is otherwise spotless.

Thanks for the reply.
