It happens. I worked at a car dealership at one time in my life, and let me tell you, it is not easy when a parking lot which was meant to hold 100 cars is now holding 200 (double parked every way possible). But you do have some power.

Before you sign anything, inspect the car with the manager and only the manager. Inform him or her that you are displeased that you were not told that your car would need body work and had to discover this on your own. Have the manager get the person(s) who worked on your car show you where the body work was done. Inspect the car under day light hours only. If you can see an spots where they did the repair work, tell them you are not satisfied with the work and make sure they replace the panel. It is very important that you do not pay for or sign anything before you are completely satisfied.

You aren't going to get any money for your troubles, so don't bother asking. The courts are only going to make sure you are in the same position as you were when you brought the car there, and you will have a very difficult time convincing them (or the insurance company for that matter) that the car is now worth less. Yes, it may be true, but they aren't going to freely admit it.

Once all repairs are made to your satisfaction, contact Saab and report the matter to them. You don't want the service people to catch wind of your report and do something to your car. You are going to want to switch repair shops (of course) and report them to the BBB. After that, you can be satisfied that your car is back to its good old self (with some new skin) and you brought some displeasure to those who screwed with you.

Good luck!
