Don't waste time and maybe money at Autozone Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: ugh. not AGAIN. CEL , how to pull OBD2 codes out ?, TonyC, Thu, 23 Sep 2004 15:52:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
See the thread by Melissa from a couple of days ago.
The generic OBD 2 readers are still in the infancy state, heck even the full blown Tech 2 Saab scanner can send you on a goose chase if you don't watch out.
I don't think it will ever be a fault tracing scanner that will tell you exactly what the problem is and how to fix it.
It still comes down to how good of a mechanic you are and how good you are to interpret the fault code message and signals when measuring each device.
And as I hope you understand. If the light shows up every 6 month, it must be an extremly small problem that takes many many trips before it triggers the light.
Do you remember what the fault codes have been? Is it the same one all the time?
Have the dealer loaded the new software into the car computer (I hope they have).
