I am feeling more optomistic regarding sludge. I bought the 2003 2.3lpt used over a year ago from Mike Lynch with CPO. I was told the previous owner is a regular for Mike and took obsessive care of the car at the dealer (I trust Mike). It had 48K when I bought it indicating nice long trips versus typical San Diego traffic. Since I have had the car I have moved to a somewhat rural area in CT with a nice 40 mile commute, no traffic. I have changed oil every 3-5K and the car is in great shape.
The color of the oil threw me off, but I am going to enjoy my commute and not worry about something that likely won't happen. The dealer here is decent and I have found a great indie that works on nothing but Saab and Volvo and was recommended here at saabnet.
