First of all, I'm not a big believer of driving more than two speakers with a stereo source, particularly a center speaker. Having said that, I do like the front center speaker in Saabs given that the driver and passenger(s) are placed closer to a side speaker.
My guess is that this front center speaker has a summed mono input and has the bulk of the power behind it. (I haven't seen the wiring, however.) The front and rear side speakers still seems to carry stereo signal, though at a lower power level than the front center. The door speakers are nothing but effect speakers with limited treble like in the Pro-Logic I surrounds (which was four channels, all analog.)
In general, I find the 9-speakers HK amp a little wimpy. Not enough (clean) juice for all the speakers, and audible distortion rises dramatically with volume. (I doubt that the 250W rating is with all speakers driven.) I use the fader to turn down the rear speakers. Sometimes I prefer to fade out the front speakers and prefer the distant sound of the rear ones.
In other words, you're hardly missing any speaker. If anything, there are a few too many (for the amp). Replacing any with a lower impedance speaker driver will only make it worse. I'd be more interested in a beefier amp that can dump some serious current to all the speakers.
BTW, the cabin is so small that you don't need a 9" woofer. That bass wavelength will be longer than the cabin with no benefit to sound quality. (Unless you want the people in the next block to know that you're right around the corner.) Stick to 6" and smaller with a cut-off above 70-80Hz. (That should excite a cleanly audible ~40Hz wave inside the car.)
