You missed the point of my post. I agree that styling is a great reason to choose a car, but I was talking about the drivetrain differences between the 9-5 and Viggen, and the Viggen & S4. The Viggen is clearly a direct competitor of the S4 - similar price, size, style, performance, luxury, etc. They are both the hot version of the 9-3 and A4, which are certainly direct competitors.
If you have never driven the S4 - it is a far more refined drivetrain than the Viggen.
The WRX does not have more power than the S4 - 227 vs. 250 HP. The WRX is a great car, but compared to the S4 is smaller in every dimension, and is a whole different class of luxury, sophistication, quality of materials, etc. They are not really direct competitors. They are both great cars, but if price is not an issue obviously the S4 is the better choice.
Also - your comment about dash lighting -- don't forget that Saabs are the only cars that offer the night panel feature, so it's silly to criticize the lack of it on any other car.
