I am talking about acceleration ( speed increase ) of the car. You may be correct if you are refering to acceleration of parts in the engine.
If you at a given speed, say 40 mph, select a gear that gives you 2000 rpm,
do you really think that the car will accelerate better than if you select a gear that gives you 4000 rpm?
If what you are saying would be correct, the new 3.0 TiD diesel engine would be as fast as the aero, becuase the max torque is the same.
If you dont believe me, take your car for a spin and make some measurements.
