You need to find out if still on original DIC. There was a recall 2005 (or so) that might have replaced yours. I think they had finally corrected the sudden failure of the earlier DIC's, it seems most now get some warning.
If you don't know the history of the current DIC, and have a black one (v3.6 or v3.7) laying around, sure, carry as spare.
If having a spare means buying new one and installing, I wouldn't carry a spare until at least 50k miles on the newer one. Probably not even then.
You also need to try to find history on serp belt.
A common maint item is the coolant bypass valve, and I had replaced the rear struts on my '02 well before it saw 100k miles. You might consider wheel alignment or at least take close look at rear.
