I had almost the exact same issue you are describing with my wife '01 9-5 Aero recently. I ended up replacing the positive battery cable and it still persisted. The battery was only 18 months old and load tested fine. Voltage was around 12.4 at rest and 13.9 running. What really made me think something was wrong is when I tested the voltage drop of the battery while cranking. It dropped significantly between cranking attempts until it would not start any more. I was able to eliminate any charging system issues when I swapped batteries between the 9-5 and my 9000 and wouldn't you know it, the 9000 started to experience the same issues while the 9-5 was fine.
I went to my friendly local NAPA and they gave me a new battery under warranty. 9-5s, for whatever reason, have a reputation for eating up batteries. We've had our 9-5 for 5 years and have been through three batteries in that time. Seems like we're averaging 18 months on them so with two years on yours it could be all it has.
