Interesting how some people tend to ascribe certain sound system features to a specific type of music, but the fact is, if the job of the audio system is to faithfully reproduce the original music, then a system will be optimized for any type of music, be it hip hop or gregorian chant. The audio spectrum is generally thought to be 20-20Khz, but few humans can hear that well to enjoy it. The amount of distortion that you produce, be it harmonic or intermodulaton distortion, is far more critical than any other spec that your audio system delivers. Cars represent a special problem in that there is a ton of ambient noise to deal with, and now you have an insulation problem to deal with.
If the electronics and the speakers can reproduce the 20-20K range with minimal distortion, and the car is quiet, and the amp has suficient dynamic range to drive the speakers to saturation, then it will be the right system for ANY type of music. That's assuming that you want the music to sound like it did in the studio where it was recorded, and not to have any altered effects like reverberation etc.
No matter how good they make the electronics and speakers, the limiting factor in a car wil always be ambient noise levels.
