I have to agree with TXG on this!
In my case, my C900 is now in the "around town in a cold climate" classification. (They do classify cars this way, don't they?) All the indy Saab garages in my area (& Anders, on the C900 BB) recommend the colder BCP6ES's, even though the Owner's Manual ONLY lists the NGK BCP5ES for my model (with 6's for the turbo & 7's for the turbo in highway use). If I were still commuting 65-70 miles a day, I'd be running the 6's, but because my car now only sees the occasional 2mi commute & weekend errand run, I switched over to the 5's. TXG's explanation is right on the nose as to why.
Ian, if I were in your situation, I'd switch over to the 7's.
Jason, since you're in NYC, I'd stick with the 6's, at least during the winter. What's your summer schedule like? Long trips? Short runs? What's your commute distance?
J, uh, I don't remember where the heck you are. (I'm so ashamed!)
Like the oil applications we love to discuss, you probably won't feel ANY difference in switching between one grade in plug; it's more of a long-term-effects kinda thing. No, your pistons won't fry using the hotter 6's. Yes, you might get more fouling & flooding using the colder 7's under the "wrong" conditions (but probably never will). Are we all more than slightly linear about our cars? You better believe it! And nobody better get in our way! (Zap! Zing! Zowie!)
