I find it very helpful on longer trips to be able to plan my stops, get a sense of how traffic is causing delays, etc.
OTOH -- for fun, I've set it for a 6 or 10 mile trip -- from home to the mall -- and its virtually right on the money!
Overall -- very accurate -- but needs to be combined with a complete GPS system. Going into mapquest to get miles routes, then re-enter info is not exactly state of the art! Add to that the disconnected Onstar -- I've had great luck calling Onstar with route info - when I get close to my final destination (when I don't know the area) -- but I can't imagine using onstar directions for a 300 mile trip -- write them all down?
