I simply can across the abstrate as a reference in an article about future oil friction modifiers. Here is another piece of information, a patent by Exxon for "Lubricating oil containing additive comprising reaction product of molybdenum dithiocarbamate and dihydrocarbyl dithiophosphoric acid".
My point is that appears to be alot of research into friction modifiers for motor oils, and more than one way to use molybdenum as a friction modifier.
