Just use a 1/2" breaker bar with a 3/8" socket to break loose a lug nut (then buy a new socket). Tech specs for all sorts of mechanical things include failure thresholds, because all have upper limits. A tech/racing driver at an upstate dealership pointed out to me that using oversize high performance tires on a 900 may keep the tires from breaking loos when you pop the clutch, but may put the drive shaft to a test you really would not want it to flunk. Big bucks.
So it is good to know those limits, or know for sure that soemeone else is looking out for them.
