Stick drivers like to have fun shifting their cars manually AND think that it's fine that others like to drive automatics -- why can't drivers of automatics offer us the same courtesy?

You ask "how can you say that this is really relevant to the day to day task of driving a car in traffic surrounded by cars and trucks and dump trucks and delivery vans etc." I'll tell you. Ninety percent of my one-way daily commute is on roads that are not so congested. Better yet, most of it is on roads with stop signs rather than traffic lights and part of it goes through a large park with windy, hilly roads. Controlling the stick is a form of brief recreation afforded me twice a day and I'd appreciate it if automatic drivers wouldn't begrudge me my fun.

I know that Formula One drivers gave up manuals; I know that most regular drivers did too. But I also know that I choose not to just as I sometimes choose to do long division, play tennis, and cook my own food. I like the challenge.

You are generous in permitting me to "feel free to bash automatics and the people who drive them, call us names and say that we are not 'true' drivers and all that BS," but I don't want to do that. You are welcome to continue driving your car with an automatic transmission; you are not a bad person or a bad driver because of it.

Now, I ask you, if you don't like manual transmissions, don't drive them. If you don't like manual transmissions, don't leap into manual transmission threads just to stir things up. Live and let live.
