strategy. Saab is banking on family oriented folks to buy more of the less expensive wagon. I don't see many European wagons of similar size going for equal or less money. The closet competition would be a VW Passat wagon.
Given the level of standard equipment in a Linear wagon, it should remain one of the best value in station wagon.
The asymmetrical V6 turbo is a bit quirky, I do not know what was the reason for such odd approach other than the usual Saab quirky thinking. I would rather see a more conventional twin turbo V6 with higher power/torque rating than the 2.3L HOT.
I don't think Saab has given up on a V6. Saab needs a V6 or V8 with AWD for the image. Saab does not really have a halo car at this point. Audi has the RS6, A8/S8, MB has the AMG, BMW has the M-Series, even Volvo has the R-Series.
I don't think GM is going to put more money into Saab to do anything close to a halo car. GM wants to see Saab sales go up, hopefully from the 9-3SS and steady sales of the 9-5.
