The asymmetric V-6 was put there for a number of reasons:
A) there are people who won't look at a car in the 9000/9-5 price range if there's only 4 big holes in the block.
2) The GME V6 doesn't have the "sturds" to handle a full turbo treatment
3) Twin Turbo is a packaging nightmare
4) The V-6 is an expensive engine. The Asymmentric turbo is a very cost-efficient strategy for making a meaningful improvement to low and mid-range torque.

What's coming? The new "GM Global 6", an all alloy engine designed from the ground up to handle the power and torque. Piston cooling oil jets standard, across the board. Initial application: 3.6L, 265 hp in the SRX, CTS, and Buick Rendesvous. Available displacements from 2.8 to 4.2L, with 2.8 to 3.2L available with turbocharging and direct fuel injection (Saab Combustion Control).

Twin Turbo? Don't count on it. Per the 9X and 9-3X "product specs", a "dual scroll single full pressure t/c." Dual Scroll is a poor man's variable pitch (which can't be used with a gasoline engine b/c the exhaust temperature is too high). Check the 3.0 TiD for packaging ... a singe t/c located just above the bell housing.
