focus on not rear-ending anyone else and let people behind you worry about themselves?
i guess it goes back to the whole keeping a safe following distance thing. if someone decides to follow you so closely that he can't stop in time in an emergency, then that would be his/her problem. lucky for 9-5ers, we've got these nifty active head restraints protecting against whiplash.
