property damage. That is demarcation in NY and some other south of the border places. Good old negligence law. If,and it is a big if, property damage is the only issue, then you are looking at repairs to at least two cars, maybe more if the birds up the chain look to you. The worst scenario is somebody claiming personal injury, lost wages, etc., later on. There are usually exceptions to no fault laws when injuries hit a threshold medically or financially and then good old fault law may visit you on person injury as well. So, tell your insurer. If you do not timely do that (and maybe make police reports as well, you need to check local details), the insurer may well disclaim coverage for later claims. Happened to me many years ago, not quite three years (the statute of limitation here) after an "accident" where my Fiat Spyder was passed by an old 4,000 lb Oldsmobile scraping the paint on the side of my rear fender. The sponge was claiming lost work, missed schooling, some medical bills; she was paid nuisance money to go away, and I had a personal injury accident on my record. Part of your insurance pays for your attorneys to defend such BS.
