Traveling from California to Florida in November 1973. Driving my 1968 Saab 99 pulling a Jamet(French)PopUp tent trailer. It was late after noon in west Texas on a windy road to El Paso. We (Me, wife and 2 kids) came upon a bend and downhill section on otherwise flat road. It took us under a railroad overpass. As soon as I saw the opening under the bridge there it was directly in our path. A ten point buck deer lying dead in the road. I had no choice but to drive straight ahead and pray for the best. We were doing about 55-60mph and no way I could do anything but as the trailer would have come around because of the curve and the grade. The Saab pulled us over the deer and kept in a straight line. The only damage we sustained was to my precious Abarth muffler.
