Honda and Toyota have decontented in the past -- on their best selling Accords and Camrys as they change models every four years. Things like swing-away side mirrors and interior doodads.
It is too bad to see some features gone, and I agree that decontenting on a luxury (or near-luxury) car is pointless to a degree with the price point we're talking about...not to mention the fact that the 9-5 is flagship and has been around since '99 in the U.S. I never use those side pockets, but certainly my rear seat riders like their bums warm in the winter.
I'm glad Saab is here, but decontenting should be carefully considered. I don't miss little storage nets, but a rear heated seat I'd like to see stay. Decontenting is a nasty word and hopefully Saab/GM will keep a watchful eye on this practice with as it is considered a premium brands.
And Mike, I'd buy a car from you if I was in Southern Cal. I just lost my favorite sales lady at my Saab dealer and I'm not sure what to do!
