I have an '03 9-5 Aero wagon, 5 speed auto, with 11K on it, and it's a fantastic car. I also have a '91 900TC, and there is definitely a higher level of refinement with the 9-5, but in a good way.
I've had access to a fair share of brands....Peugeot, Alfa, Audi, Volvo, BMW, and now Saab. I think the Saab gives you great road feel, responsive steering, very good handling (not as good as a BMW, but that's RWD and FWD will never compete) and fuel efficiency.
For the money, I think the Saab wagon is a pretty stellar offering. I don't think it's too GM-ized yet...there are a few pieces from GM Europe cars (like the power mirror switch that you'll see in any Vauxhall/Opel), but in my opinion, they are much better cars (Buick Century versus a Vauxhall/Opel Vectra? There's no comparison...). Newer ones will face much more GM influence. 9-7X...need I say more?
No regrets from my perspective...
Cheers,
Paul H.
