OK, so I spoke over the phone with the service manager at the dealership where the car is (this is not the dealership I bought the car from).
He told me that the person that came from Saab claims that everything is 100% fixable i.e. replacable.
He did attribute it to the 'Ignition Coil'. There is a long list of parts damaged that they will just replace. He promised me that the car will return to the same condition it was before all of this happened, in every respect. I truly have mixed feelings about all of this.
Asking for a eplacement car, will not guarantee that it won't have the same problem somewhere down the road. Or even something else that I'm not aware of.
I gave the dealer the go ahead to fix the car (Saab will be assuming all cost of course) in the meantime I'm planning to contact Saab and try to get additional compansation for all of this. Frankly right now I am not sure what to ask for.
When I mentioned safety and resale and the loss in the car's value aspect.
I was told the following:
1.All the parts on the list are going to be replaced with new ones. So this should not happen again.
2.Resalewise the above mentioned plus, this incident will not show up on CARFAX since this is basically an issue that is going to be resolved through Saab. With no insurance claims there will be no other records that would affect it's resale value.
I called Saab and left the person dealing with my case a message asking her to call me back. So now I'm waiting for her to call me and hear what she has to say about my expectations.
As usual I will keep you updated the moment I know anything else.
