Sorry Mike, I have to disagree. My '01 SE had a DIC failure at 39K (earlier this summer), and it stranded my teenaged daughter at night. Before it happened I too thought it was not an issue for V6s.
I recognize that all cars will have occasional mechanical issues, but I for one have a hard time believing that the V6s don't have DIC issues not that it has happened to us. I suspect we are not alone. My dealer said they are starting to see more V6s have DIC issues. Maybe they just take longer to surface since there are two DICs on the V6s instead the one on the 4 cyl.
In any event, please do not take this as Saab bashing. I love Saabs. We have two, and I have been driving Saabs non-stop since 1985. The last Saab we sold was 12 years old, with 175k miles ('90 900T Conv.), and I still had second thoughts about selling it so soon.
There are many reasons we continue to be a Saab family, but I think it is time Saab steps up on this issue.
